Snowshoe Softball Tournament

The Winthrop Snowshoe Softball tournament is a popular annual winter event sponsored by the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce.

Now in its third decade, this tournament is held every February on the three-day President’s Day weekend. The weekend is full of good sport and great fun! Join us for this out-of-the-ordinary event that participants and spectators enjoy.

Up to eight co-ed snowshoe softball teams converge on Winthrop’s Ball Field. As the name implies, snowshoe softball is a tournament played in the snow. The participants are strapped into snowshoes. The teams must be comprised of equal numbers of men and women. All the balls are fluorescent yellow to let the participants and spectators track the action.
