At North Cascades Mountain Guides, our mission is to provide high quality, low-ratio guided climbing and backcountry skiing trips. We feel that the quality of our guides and our commitment to low ratio trips are what sets us apart from many other companies.
North Cascades Mountain Guides are true professionals with decades of guiding experience. The majority of our guides are trained and certified by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) and the owners are instructors and examiners for the AMGA. Our goal is to provide exceptional mountain experiences by having the best guides in the business and by only offering low-ratio, high-quality trips to the most amazing mountain ranges in the world.
When you climb or ski with North Cascades Mountain Guides you will be heading into the mountains in a small group with a highly skilled guide. This not only increases your margin of safety but also ensures all participants individual attention and the highest quality experience possible. Depending on the objective, we will limit the number of climbers or skiers to guides to maintain an effective ratio. This may be as many as four guests to one guide for a top-rope climbing session or moderate ski tour, while more difficult alpine ascents will only allow one climber or skier per guide. Our ratios are often 1/2 of what other companies allow. Once people have experienced the difference, very few will ever return to high ratio guiding.
