This magical holiday celebration begins Thanksgiving weekend and marks the beginning of the Christmas season for the Methow Valley citizens and its many visitors. Family and friends come from afar to join in and share this wondrous time of year.

Winthrop's Kick-off to Christmas 2019 Activities

An Old Fashioned Cowboy Christmas!
Join us for a weekend of holiday spirit in true Western tradition.


2-4 pm - Storytelling at the Trail's End Bookstore with Granny Winthrop - Cost: Free  
5-6 pm - Skate with Santa at the Winthrop Ice Rink 
6 pm - Live Music @ Sixknot Taproom & Old Schoolhouse Brewery


10 am - End of the Road 5K Run and 1K Kids Fun Run.  Early registration Friday from 10 am - 6 pm at Cascades Outdoor Store or day of race from 9 am - 9:45 am at the Winthrop Ice Rink. Cost is $5 for the 5k, $1 for the 1K with proceeds benefiting Cascadia Music. The race starts at 10 am from the Winthrop Ice Rink and ends at the Ice Rink.   
All Day - Participate in the Winthrop Chamber sponsored raffle at downtown businesses
12 pm - Santa Arrives downtown on Riverside Avenue 
1-4 pm - Children's Winter Fest (at the Barn).

  • Santa Photos at the Winthrop Barn by the Winthrop Kiwanis Cost: Free 
  • Horse-drawn wagon rides from the Barn to Downtown Cost: Free 
  • Hot Chocolate, cider, cookies, hot dogs and chili- Women's Auxiliary and Winthrop Auditorium Cost: Varies by item 

3 pm - Campfires on Riverside Avenue by the Methow Valley Snowmobile Association
3 - 5 pm - Caroling along Riverside Ave.
5 pm - Town Lighting on Riverside Avenue 
6 pm - Fireworks Extravaganza. The best viewing of the show is from downtown Winthrop!
7 pm - Live Music @ Sun Mountain Lodge & The Ciderhouse
